Senior Product Designer

At GS1, we are responsible for developing and implementing a universal, global system of standards for identifying objects, capturing data, and sharing information across the supply and demand chains

Job Purpose

Lead the design and evolution of scalable, AI-enabled product experiences by translating complex business requirements into intuitive, system-driven user experiences.

Drive accelerated design execution through AI-powered workflows while maintaining high standards of usability, accessibility, and design system governance.

Operate at the intersection of UX, business strategy, design systems, and AI-driven execution to create measurable product and operational impact.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Business Leadership

  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable UX solutions.

  • Align design decisions with measurable KPIs and product growth.

  • Actively contribute to product strategy discussions.

  • Identify trade-offs and recommend data-informed decisions.

  • Balance speed, structure, and clarity in execution.

AI-Driven Design Execution

  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, wireframing, documentation, and prototyping.

  • Compress traditional multi-week workflows into high-quality outputs delivered within hours.

  • Critically evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs to ensure brand and UX standards.

  • Identify opportunities to embed AI-powered features into user journeys.

  • Promote and drive AI workflow adoption within the design team.

Design System Ownership

  • Build and evolve a scalable, modular Design System across platforms.

  • Architect reusable components, interaction models, and design patterns.

  • Manage Figma libraries, tokens, variables, and governance processes.

  • Conduct audits to prevent system drift.

  • Ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and long-term scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams.

  • Maintain quality and feasibility during implementation.

  • Manage parallel product tracks efficiently.

  • Ensure consistency across multiple products based on business priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 – 6 years of experience in Product Design.

  • Strong experience building and managing structured Design Systems (components, tokens, governance, documentation).

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to significantly accelerate workflows.

  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams.

  • Strong task and time management skills with the ability to handle parallel tracks.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced mastery of Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, variables, tokens).

  • Strong UI expertise across mobile and responsive web.

  • Deep understanding of scalable, component-based architecture.

  • Strong working knowledge of AI tools within design workflows.

  • Understanding of front-end fundamentals is a plus.
